A little bit of a change in pace this week, EDS and angina took a backseat for a change. Instead this week has been predominantly filled boobs and talk of boobs. See a week or so ago I found a lump, after it hadn’t gone after a few days I went to my fabulous GP. I always expect that the GP won’t find anything I will be sent away branded a hypochondriac. However, she did find the lump and sent me away to the rapid breast assessment unit. Fortunately with the healthcare that my work provide I was able to get an appointment at the private unit the next day. Let me tell you, that is not conducive for a good nights sleep. Even though I am 99% certain it’s just a benign lump as I have had them twice before, there is still that element of doubt.
At the assessment unit the consultant had a look and a feel and then did the horrible fine needle biopsy and hit a blood vessel, so I have a lovely big bruise. I also had a scan there and then which is looking ok. The results of the biopsy should be in early next week and we will take it from there. So it’s a case now of waiting to see what the biopsy says. I am actually feeling remarkably laid back about this. I don’t know if it’s just because I am getting so used to having tests and hospital appointments or there is just too much health stuff going on and I can’t process it. I hope I am not building myself up for a shock.
As many of you will have seen on the ‘from the heart’ facebook page I have had another article published with The Mighty which is great and I have had some lovely feedback from it, it is lovely to know that people take solace in my ramblings. This weekend my heart goes out to any ladies and gentleman dealing with the effects of breast cancer.
